FAQ

  • What is a root canal treatment?

Inside the root canal of the tooth is the pulp. The pulp is very sensitive to hot, cold, and pain. The pain happens when the pulp tissue is diseased or dead. The Endodontist will make a small access hole and remove everything inside the root canal while the patient is under local anesthesia.

Afterward, the endodontist will decontaminate the hollow area and fill the tooth and seal the canal with adhesive cement. The patient will then need to get a crown on the tooth before they can use the tooth as normal. This is usually done by the restorative dentist.

  • Is it painful?

Many people are afraid of root canal treatment because of pain. Treatment is meant to relieve you of the pain caused by an infected tooth. The endodontist will numb the tooth using local anesthesia. You won't feel anything. After treatment, be sure to use over-the-counter pain relievers.

  • Is it expensive?
